In case you missed it or got caught in the street closures, Taylor Swift’s concert film, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” premiered at The Grove Wednesday evening. According to entertainment news reports, it was a star-studded evening with Swift welcoming the personally invited audience.
“I appreciate you being here because this night is a core memory for me and you’re a part of it,” Swift said introducing the highly-anticipated movie before a packed auditorium of Swifties, celebrities (and celebrity Swifties), including Beyoncé, Adam Sandler, Julia Garner, Maren Morris, Flava Flav, Karamo Brown, Hayley Kiyoko, Becca Tilley, Simu Liu, Molly Sims, Jennifer Meyer and Mariska Hargitay, as well as the Grove owner, Rick Caruso, reported Variety.
Swift made everyone feel welcome, according to news reports.
“Thirteen of the theaters at the Grove’s AMC multiplex were filled with eager fans, and Swift stopped by all of them to give a special introduction, eventually settling into an auditorium’s audience that included stars like Adam Sandler and Julia Garner,” reported the New York Times.
Hosting was quite a coup for mall developer Rick Caruso. No Hollywood Blvd. movie palace for this film opening! Swift bypassed the big studios and AMC Theatres is distributing the movie.
The mall closure was reportedly announced on the mall’s Instagram feed, which now and likely forever reads simply, “Taylor was here #TheGroveLA.”
Next door neighbor, the Original Farmers Market, posted on their Instagram that they were open, prompting comments of appreciation like this one from their followers “Thank God because The Grove is ridiculous for closing today.”
LA is a tough crowd.
