Yes, that’s right, the 40th annual Brookside Block Party took place on Sunday in the 800 block of Muirfield Road. And it featured just what you would expect from a longstanding neighborhood block party — pony rides, a petting zoo, a moon bounce, a DJ, pie and watermelon eating contests, and a doggie talent show of sorts — enjoyed by new and old neighbors alike. The block party was organized by a handful of members of the Brookside Homeowners Association, led by Danny Gibson who serves as Co-President, along with Emily Levin, Board members Dana Petersen, Loren Dunsworth and resident Samantha Karim

Duane Earle, center, of Earle’s Restaurant, served more than 250 plates of barbecue with his crew. It’s his tenth year serving at the Brookside Block Party.
Milton Gaines, a Longwood-Highlands resident (his mother co-founded the Longwood Area Neighborhood Association) served as DJ, gratis. “I love doing it!” Gaines told the Buzz.
