Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti endorsed Carolyn Ramsay as the best qualified, most experienced candidate running to replace the termed-out CD4 Councilman Tom LaBonge yesterday at a Ramsay’s campaign office on Melrose before a small crowd of supporters and press.
“Carolyn is best poised to serve the 4th District,” said Garcetti. “She has the independent judgement to lead, the experience and the backbone to say “no, this is not good for my constituents.”
“I love her Hollywood Innovation ideas,” added Garcetti. “I’ve worked with Carolyn for many years and she knows how to work with everyone for solutions that work for everyone in the 4th district.”
“I am honored and thrilled to have the support of Mayor Garcetti, said Carolyn Ramsay. “He is leading our city in the right direction; protecting neighborhoods, building our economy and fixing our infrastructure and working to make our city more sustainable.”
Recalling the legacy of her father, Jack Ramsay, former NBA Coach who passed away last year, Ramsay said Mayor Garcetti was the first condolence call she received.
“This campaign has been about building a team and team work,” said Ramsay. “I have the best team – we have mailed out over 30,000 post cards.” Garcetti interjected, “I got one of those post cards, she’s also my councilwoman.”
Ramsay thanked campaign volunteer Tim Deegan for making over 3000 phone calls saying she is so grateful to everyone for helping her run a neighborhood focused grassroots campaign and urged everyone to help get out the vote on May 19.
Ramsay has been endorsed by a wide range of community leaders from the city’s neighborhood councils, Lt. Govern Gavin Newsom, State Controller Betty Yee, Senator Bob Hertzberg, Supervisor Shelia Kuehl, City Attorney Mike Feuer and most of the Los Angeles City Councilmembers and the majority of Democratic Clubs, United Firefighters of Los Angeles, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artist and Allie Crafts (IATSE).
