Even though it still feels like winter, springtime is just around the corner and that means – softball !
If you have a daughter who likes to play softball, or one who has never played but just may take to the sport, the Wilshire Girls Softball League is a great opportunity to learn and practice America’s favorite spring sport. Opening day is Feb. 9th, 2013.
The ASA Wilshire Girls Fast Pitch Softball League plays out of two local parks, Queen Anne and Lemon Grove, that have been spruced up and improved thanks to the commitment of parent volunteers and local business contributions. Practices begin the first week of February, and games are played mostly on Sundays and will run through May. A skills clinic is planned at Lemon Grove Park on Feb. 2nd that will b led by the varsity team from Immaculate Heart High School. Other clinics will follow throughout the season.
The divisions are 6U-6 and under (5-6 year olds), 8U -8 and under (7 & 8 year olds), 10U – 10 and under (9&10 year olds) and 12U (11 and 12 year olds).
Evaluation Day is Saturday January 26, 2013. Walkup registrations will be accepted until teams are full, but the best way to secure a spot is to register by January 25th online via the League website. Questions about the league or registration can be directed to the President of the League, Rachel Capata, or the Registrar Amanda Mansour.
Their motto? Play hard. Have fun. What could be better as the grass greens up, days lengthen, and the temperatures warm. Parents will even enjoy being back out on the field again.
