Pata Salada, formerly Luna Park (at the NE corner of Wilshire and La Brea), closed last week after just four months in its new format as an upscale Mexican seafood restaurant.
According to Eater LA, owner Martha Madison said “the current Metro Line construction just proved to be too big of an obstacle.” She added that despite the street closures, traffic sign issues, dust and noise, the “Purple Line liaisons did their best to mitigate the issues.”
Too bad, Pata Salada was a nice addition to neighborhood. Hopefully the staff will find work elsewhere.
We didn’t even get there before it closed. Fast!
The construction is not why… Republique is right next to Pata Salada and they certainly aren’t struggling. I live in walking distance of this restaurant and was excited to check it out- but their menu was insanely overpriced! for the people who owned luna park (and at luna park the food was always just good not fantastic) i would expect more reasonable prices. Bummer this wasnt more successful.
I totally agree.. And I miss Luna Park. We need some well priced restaurants in this area. They are not catering to the locals.
Though I’m sure the construction didn’t help business, I don’t believe the construction is what ultimately closed their doors. The restaurant was very expensive. I found that even their happy hour pricing was high. The space was very large, so it almost always seemed empty.
A beautiful space and a beautiful restaurant. I hope someone else gives it a try.
