The National Weather Service has forecast a long rainy day over much of southern and central California that unfortunately, will likely lead to areal flooding- possibly resulting in mudslides and debris flows near recent burn scars.
News reports of a hillside collapse in La Tuna Canyon underscore how dangerous rainy days can be in some parts of the country. Fortunately, no structures were damaged due to the erosion of this hillside in the photo below posted by the County of Los Angeles.  Mandatory evacuations of the 8300 block to the 9000 block of La Tuna Canyon are currently in effect. The picture was taken one mile north of the 8300 block of La Tuna Canyon, is within the area that has been evacuated. No structures were damaged due to the erosion of this hillside.
Thankfully, our neighborhoods are only getting some much needed rain for our gardens and yards. We highly recommend you consider going out in the rain, maybe when it’s lightly raining, and enjoy it while it lasts, being thankful we are not in harm’s way.
