Joane Pickett of Pickett Fences
You can often find owner Joane Pickett of Pickett Fences floating about the store, chatting with customers.

Where to go on the busiest shopping day of the year? Head to Larchmont Blvd, avoiding the crowded malls and big box stores and support our local businesses.

This Black Friday, Nov. 23rd, check out some of the local businesses on the boulevard:

Pickett Fences, 214 N Larchmont: Owner Joane Pickett operates one of the most trendy, high-quality clothing shops on the boulevard and expects this year’s hot sellers to be cashmere sweaters. There’s a wide variety of clothing for both men and women (including flannel pajamas) and you’ll find gift books, cookbooks and clever stocking stuffers among the mix.

Marcie Bronkar Home Couture
The front window at Marcie Bronkar’s shop  showcases some of the unique items, such as a carved turkey and elegant iron bird cages.

Marcie Bronkar Interior Design Salon, 128 1/2 N Larchmont: This elegant home couture shop is a quiet oasis of good taste and clever home decor, including curated objects, antiques, vintage lighting, gifts and more. Open Wed-Sat from 11am – 5 pm it’s well worth a visit for something totally unique.

Alternative Apparel, 219 N Larchmont: The newest clothier on the block, Alternative Apparel is planning to open for business on Black Friday (with perhaps a soft opening on the Wed. before Thanksgiving.) The newly-designed space is fantastic, and the flea market chic merchandise will include both men’s and women’s clothing, pillows, baskets and decorative accessories.

Gabriel McVay, Store Manager at Malin + Goetz, shares some skin care products perfect for gift giving.

Malin + Goetz, 238 N Larchmont: The boulevard’s apothecary has been open since last spring, and fans love the Malin + Goetz line of all-natural skin care products. Store Manager Gabriel McVay says the shop has a variety of high-end creams and lotions and ergonomic razors ($120) but also offers something for those in need of Secret Santa gifts like bar and liquid soaps, and candles in flavors such as Rum & Mojito.

These Haflingers embroidered, with cat and yarn ball motif,  seen at Village Footwear.

Village Footwear, 248 N Larchmont: The resident shoe store on the boulevard for 15 years, Village Footwear has gift options including wallets, socks, hats, scarves, handbags and jewelry.
