The air is not cool and crisp, but we know it’s officially fall, thanks to the time honored tradition (at least for the last 8 years) of the opening of Larchmont’s Pumpkim Patch two blocks south of Melrose. Thanks to the Wilshire Rotary, who set up the patch with 20,000 pounds of pumpkins earlier this week and staffs it with volunteers.
Proceeds from the patch support Rotarian scholarships for schools and sports leagues in the community. Elsa Gillham was working the patch with her granddaughter when we stopped by yesterday. Elsa said funds this year will provide a free dictionary to every third grader in 5 local schools in our neighborhood. This weekend the patch will have a bounce for kids to jump around while parents can shop their amazing assortment of pumpkins!
