Christmas Lights and Caroling Events

Celebrate the season with caroling and holiday lights.

If you are looking for fun ways to celebrate the holiday season, we are happy to share some events organized by local residents we trust to know how to have fun.

Eric Evavold, Hancock Park resident and extremely knowledgable tour guide, still has seats available for his tour of holiday lights of DTLA and neon marquees developed for the Museum of Neon Art this Sunday, December 15 at 6:00 p.m.

Eric Evavold welcomes riders to the Holiday Lights Neon Cruise.

“This is my 16th year doing tours for the Museum of Neon Art,” Evavold told the Buzz.  “We tour downtown LA in a Double Decker Bus! Stops are Union Station  and Grand Park and include festive holiday drinks and treats. It’s a fun filled night and a wonderful way to be a tourist in your own town.”

Tickets are $65.00 per person and you can go to www.neonmona.org to purchase.  The tour leaves from the Biltmore at 6:00 p.m. sharp, and returns at 9:00 p.m.  Eric will board the bus at 5:30 p.m.

Closer to home is the annual Brookside Holiday Caroling event, featuring a horse-drawn carriage filled with friends and neighbors serenading the neighborhood with holiday songs. This year, residents will gather at 6 pm on Sunday, December 15th at 835 South Tremaine. Interested carolers are invited to sign up on the neighborhood association’s website. Don’t miss out on this wonderful neighborhood tradition, complete with a visit from Santa Claus.

Brookside Christmas caroling party took place under misty skies in 2015.

And, finally, here’s another idea, combining fundraising and caroling, shared by Larchmont Village resident Karen Gilman and Windsor Square resident Joe Bruan.  You can aupport and enjoy a holiday Carol-athon on Saturday, December 14th from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a non-profit that provides music education to our neediest families in the city. More than 75 singers will visit participating homes in the neighborhood, signing Christmas and Hannukah favorites. For a donation of $100, you will get two beautiful songs sung right on your doorstep by carolers from Silver Conservatory of Music’s children and adult choirs.

“It’s a wonderful way to welcome the holidays and do some good for kids, all at your home!” explained Karen Gilman, who has invited carolers to her neighborhood in Larchmont Village.  Contact [email protected] if you are interested in learning more about the event, or want to donate and have the carolers come to your home.
