Hardwear Clothing Boutique on Larchmont Blvd. is Closing This Month

Hardwear clothing boutique at 152 N. Larchmont Blvd. is closing at the end of the month.

After 13 years at 152 N. Larchmont Blvd., Hardwear clothing is closing at the end of the month. Founder and owner Renee Mizrahi has decided to retire.

“I have four children and there is more stuff that I want to do, so I’m retiring.” Mizrahi told the Buzz. “I love my customers, people have been so loyal over the years. We really have a special community on Larchmont and I want to thank everyone for their loyalty to the store.”

Mizrahi opened the store in 2011 after an extensive renovation of the building, home of the former Larchmont Hardware store which inspired the name. Her boutique focused on the feel and fit of eco-friendly clothing, such as organic-cotton tees and vegan-leather jackets, purses and accessories.

Larchmont Hardware was one of four buildings the Mizrahi family purchased on Larchmont Blvd. in 2008.  Mizrahi told us all her other tenants in the building are staying, as are other Larchmont shops owned and run by family members, including her son, Michael who operates Library, another clothing boutique down the street at 121 1/2 N. Larchmont. Buck Mason at 107 N. Larchmont took over the Larchmont Bungalow space after it closed in 2017 after a protracted legal battle with the city over a violation of the Larchmont “Q” Conditions. Recently, Mizrahi leased the longtime empty space at 227 N. Larchmont to Levain Bakery, set to open this spring.

Mizrahi said she hasn’t selected a new tenant to take her place yet. She told us she has been approached by a lot of interested retailers but she’s looking for the right tenant to take over the space, ideally something that will go well the street.  Mizrahi told the Buzz she intends to stay involved on Larchmont. She was one of the property owners who donated to the installation of the bistro lights now illuminating the street.

Mizrahi plans to close the store by the end of the month, and said she hopes to sell all the inventory. She told the Buzz she’s reduced prices on everything from 50 to 70%, so it’s a great to time stop in and say hello, as well as pick up some great deals.

Everything in the store is 50-70% off
