The early Tuesday morning crash on Highland Avenue in Hancock Park took the life of the car’s driver, reportedly journalist Michael Hastings. The coroner has not been able to confirm the identity of the driver, but according to the LA Times Hastings’ employer at BuzzFeed.com confirmed that Hastings did die in a Tuesday crash.
Hastings is best known for his 2010 ‘Rolling Stone’ profile of General Stanley McChrystal – “The Runaway General”. The content of Hastings’ story resulted in the resignation of McChrystal from his post as Commander of the US led war effort in Afghanistan.
Hastings is survived by his wife, journalist Elise Jordan.
According to LAPD West Traffic Division the accident is still under investigation.
