The LAPD and local security services report an uptick in property crime, not surprising given the hot days and open windows that seem to make crime soar in the summer.

Some of the area crimes that have occurred in recent days:

Windsor Square:

Burglary: On 09/05/13, at 11:53 am, in the 300 block of S. Lucerne. Caught on video cameras, a suspect, described as a male, African-American, 20’s,  knocked at front door of residence. When no one answered, the suspect walked to a black compact car and departed. Thirteen minutes later, the suspect was seen on video cameras in the back yard prying open a rear French door, 3 minutes later he left. Jewelry and a lap top computer were stolen. The private security service SSA responded within minutes, as did LAPD. The GPS locator on laptop was activated and simultaneously LAPD-Wilshire stopped a suspect on the street, searched his car, arrested the suspect and all property was recovered.

Attempted Robbery: On 09/01/13 at 03:00 am robbery on 4800 block of W 4th (Plymouth.)

Once inside, they removed the victim’s wallet and car keys. The suspect(s) then exited the home and took victim’s car. During the incident, the victims were asleep in their bedroom. They were awoken at approximately 2:30 am by their barking dog and what appeared to be a momentary illuminated light in the dining room area. Victims believed the light was possibly a security company patrolling the area and went back to sleep. It was the morning when they discovered they had been burglarized. The vehicle was later recovered in West LA near the area of Wilshire and Santa Monica. No suspect(s) were seen during this incident.
