Kate Mantilini, the iconic lunch and late-dinner spot on Wilshire at Doheny, is set to close June 14th. The current owner Adam Lewis, son of Harry and Marilyn Lewis who started the Hamburger Hamlet chain, could not come to agreement on renewing lease terms with the new owner of the property.
Opened in 1987, Kate Mantilini became a power-lunch spot for the entertainment industry as well as a whos-who dining spot where one could still get dinner late at night. The chic, contemporary design with soaring ceilings, gigantic windows overlooking the Wilshire traffic,  and one of  the first counter seating set-ups right in the main dining room, has also been used as a location in a number of films, most notably “Heat” starring Robert De Niro.
Just one month left to p0ur over Kate Mantilini’s huge menu and sit back to enjoy the scene.
LA Times: Kate Mantilini in Beverly Hills to Close
what a shame. we have gone there since they opened. we moved to the desert in 2008 but still managed a visit at least 2 or 3 times a year.
Cheap ass landlord, this is a great restaurant and an asset to a rather dull building.
