A Month of Big Sundays – Registration Now Open!

This may be April 1, but it’s no joke that just one month from today marks the beginning of the Big Sunday organization’s annual Month of Big Sundays…and registration for individual volunteer events is now open.

Big Sunday began as a single day each May, in which schools, faith organizations and other non-profits all hosted volunteer projects as part of a city-wide day of giving back to the community.  The effort was so successful, however, and the number of projects and participating organizations eventually grew so large, that instead of a single day in May, Big Sunday now sponsors special volunteer projects every day in May.

So far this year, you can sign up to pitch in and help out at nearly 300 projects…in all parts of the LA metro area (including many in our local neighborhoods), and at a huge variety of venues.  There are also scores of different kinds of events, from painting and gardening to working with animals, feeding the hungry, and even just spending time and having fun with folks who will appreciate the company.  Whatever your age or interests, there’s definitely something for you.  (And, yes, the work counts toward community service hours for students who need them!)

So take a look at the list of this year’s events, find something close to you (or just close to your heart) and sign up today.
