Registration for Wilshire Softball’s spring season is now open for girls ages 4-14, at all skill levels.  Also this year, according to the group’s leaders, registration includes access, at no additional cost, to the team’s fourth annual softball skills clinic at UCLA – taking place this Saturday, January 28.  The clinic is hosted by UCLA head coach Kelly Inouye-Perez, assistant coach and three-time gold medal Olympian Lisa Fernandez, and the full 2017 Bruin team.  (Wilshire Softball’s official spring season starts on February 1.)
Yes, those dates are getting close, but there is still time to register, and spots available…so it’s a great time to sign up. Saturday’s clinic will be held at UCLA’s Easton Stadium, and is highly recommended for all Wilshire Girls ages 4-14 who are registered for the group’s 2017 spring season.  The clinic will cover:
- Defense
- Throwing
- Infield work
- Outfield work
- Pitching & Catching (10U-14U)
- Offense
- Bunting
- Hitting off tees
- Live hitting
- Chalk Talks
- Game strategy
- Mental & physical preparation
- Team work
- Live Demonstrations
In addition, participants will watch the Bruins run defensive drills over lunch, be treated to a Bruin hitting demonstration, be assigned a Bruin Big Sister for the spring season, have the chance to get autographs and photos with the girs’ favorite Bruins, and get a tour of the UCLA campus and a chance to visit the UCLA Sports Hall of Fame, training facilities, campus store…and more.  And again, it’s all free (with an optional $5 lunch) with registration for the Wilshire Softball season.
