Yesterday morning there was a two-vehicle car accident at Larchmont and Third Street around 10:30 a.m. According to LAPD and LAFD, one person was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Eye witness Jack Humphreville, who shared these photos, said the driver of an eastbound white Mercedes was turning left onto Larchmont when it was hit in the rear by an elderly woman driving east.  The elderly woman was taken away by ambulance, but the Buzz was not able to learn more about her condition.Â
This intersection has been the site of a number of serious accidents for cars and pedestrians.  Efforts to find ways to make the intersection safer have been discussed in the past, including “zebra” striping the intersection to make it safe for pedestrians and more visible to drivers. Until mitigation measures are implemented, however, neighbors should be cautious. Thankfully, there were no fatalities in yesterday’s accident.
