Tim Gregory, the Building Biographer, does just what his moniker says: he  brings the history of properties and homes to life for those that live in them today. Who was the architect? What family first lived in the house? How has the home changed over the years?
Gregory has spent the past 20 years delving into public records and photographs to find out such details on over 2500 properties across Los Angeles, and will share his insight with the residents of greater Hancock Park later this month when he speaks at the Wilshire Country Club on Saturday, October 26th from 3-5 pm.
The Building Biographer, a certified archivist and registered public historian, is expected to share his process for historical research with those interested in learning more about the history of their own homes. Gregory can be hired to do the research on a property, delivered either as a ‘fact sheet’ with bullet points, or as a comprehensive narrative history of a property complete with photographs. Or he may just inspire some people to head to City Hall and start sifting through records and assembling a home’s history on their own.
