There’s a new nail salon on Larchmont. Poshe Salon opened at the end of May, taking over the space at 124 1/2 N. Larchmont, formerly Jessica’s Hair salon.
We stopped in this week to meet the managers, Briana Chou, who manages the front desk, and Chris Nguyen, a 20-year veteran of the industry who came over from another local salon and who manages the staff and the salon operation. Both were quick to point out their salon only uses products made in the USA. Nguyen took us in the back supply room, pointing out that any customer can come check out the labels on all the products. He said nothing is made in China and everything has a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) following U.S. guidelines for health and safety.
“We use certified organic products made in the United States to guarantee that there are no unwanted materials or toxins in the polish,” said Nguyen. The salon’s services include manicures and pedicures, waxing, scrubs and massage. It also offers a range of beauty products such as massage lotions, oils, sea salt and sugar scrubs.
He also showed us a water purifier that produces pure alkaline water used for their organic manicures. According to Nguyen, alkaline water has a higher pH level than plain tap water, and may promote healing and help neutralize acid in the bloodstream. According to the MayoClinic, more research is needed to verify these claims…but the water does taste good (we sampled some while we were there). In addition to alkaline water, Poshe salon offers guests a complimentary glass of wine along with their services. It’s all part of their “come in, sit back and relax” approach to service.
