Big Sunday Builds Community and Capitalizes on Support

Sunday was a day where many in our community focused on coming together to do good. There were lots of different ‘Big Sunday’ events all around us…some we knew about in advance.  Most we didn’t!

If you have pictures from your Big Sunday event, feel free to share on our Facebook site and tell us what your activity was. Big Sunday creates great energy all around the Greater Wilshire area!

More than 200 volunteers showed up at St. Brendan School over the course of the day on Sunday. As you can imagine, lots of work got done! Trees were planted, flowers beds were cleaned out, turned and planted. And trash was cleared from the entire perimeter around the campus (Manhattan Place, 2nd Street, Western Avenue and 3rd Street). Among the volunteers…Councilman Tom LaBonge was instrumental in helping to remove trash and dead plantings.
