Eater LA has a number of recent stories that may be of interest to the Larchmont crowd hungry to venture not far from the neighborhood  to try something new.
Acabar is the new incarnation of the famously tiled Dar Maghreb restaurant on Sunset Blvd west of Curson. The new owners, a team of people from Little Door among others, has saved the exquisite tile work and open aired Moroccan architecture and promised to “take diners on a culinary journey along the Spice Trail” with seasonal dishes tweaked with French inspiration. Eater LA has a full set of photos to whet your appetite, not for the food as much as the place. Though we may miss the belly dancing and cinnamon infused bastilla chicken of Dar Maghreb, the new spot may be worth a visit.

Living this close to Koreatown, we are always getting asked which restaurants to try to sample the best Korean food. Eater LA also came out with an updated guide to the LA’s Best Korean Restaurants and it lists a number of them only blocks from the greater Hancock Park area. Included in the list is Soban Korean, just two blocks east of Crenshaw on Olympic Blvd known for its fish and squid specialities, and Baek Ha Chong, almost next door, known for its pork ribs. Also on the lists are expensive as well as late-night eateries on Wilshire, 3rd and 6th – all within a few minutes of Larchmont. The Eater LA story includes a map, and notes that many Koreans feel the fare here in LA is so varied and unique that it parallels the best of Soeul food itself.
In the 20 Most Underrated LA restaurants, Eater LA includes a couple spots very familiar to Buzz readers: Osteria Mamma at Melrose and Lucerne where the carbonara gets kudos , and Jar on Beverly at Harper, known for their perfectly grilled steaks.
