Local Food Buzz: Recent Review and Best-Of Lists

It’s been a good month for local food buzz, with area restaurants getting positive reviews and placement on a number of “best-of”-style lists in city-wide media:

On Thursday, March 24, the LA Weekly published a positive review of the new Trejo’s Tacos on La Brea, confirming that, unlike many other celebrity-owned establishments, “this is actually a serious restaurant,” and saying “it’s clear that this place is earnestly paying attention to the quality of its ingredients and its dishes.”

The Weekly focused on our neighborhood again on Friday, March 25, with a story in which Amy Sweeney, owner of Ammo-to-Go (itself a local eatery), named Angelini Osteria among her “6 Great Landmark L.A. Restaurants.”  Saying she likes to “sneak in for lunch,” Sweeney calls Angelini Osteria “truly an iconic Los Angeles neighborhood restaurant.”

In addition to the LA Weekly mentions, the EaterLA blog has also tagged many local restaurants in the last few weeks:

Angelini Osteria was noted again in “Find Carb Heaven at These Great Pasta Spots in Los Angeles,” along with Jon & Vinny’s, Osteria la Buca, Osteria Mamma, Osteria Mozza, and Terroni.

Third Street’s Moruno and Melrose’s Spartina were named among “The 25 Hottest Restaurants in LA Right Now, March 2016.”

Melrose Umbrella Co and the bar at Republique made the weekly lists of Three Bars to Try this Weekend in Los Angeles.”  (Republique was also mentioned in Five Restaurants to Try This Week.”)

And finally, Eater also gave a shout-out to Larchmont Blvd.’s ‘Lette Macarons, in its list of “14 Exceptional Macaron Spots in Los Angeles (Updated).”
