Hancock Park resident Cindy Chvatal was honored last week by the LA City Commission on the Status of Women. Chvatal was nominated by Council Member David Ryu for her work as president of Hancock Homeowners Association Est. 1948 and honored at the annual Pioneer Women Awards celebration last Wednesday at City Hall.
“It was very nice. Every Council member chose a woman who has been active in their community,” Chvatal told the Buzz, “There were lots of great women.” The honor was a “nice surprise,” added Chvatal.
In his weekly newsletter, Council member David Ryu wrote about honoring Chvatal:
Once a year, the City Council recognizes fifteen women who have made outstanding contributions to the strength, vitality, and enrichment of our City. This year, I had the pleasure to nominate Cindy Chvatal as the Fourth District’s Pioneer Woman. Cindy currently serves as President of the Hancock Park Homeowners Association, Est. 1948, a member of the CD4 Discretionary Funds Task Force, and is the founding member of the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council. Congratulations, Cindy!
We second that — Congratulations Cindy!
