Trash containers take a beating week after week and sometimes they just simply disappear. If that’s happened to you, the City’s Bureau of Sanitation can help you replace your containers. You can call the City’s 3-1-1 hotline for services or go on online to request additional, replacement, extra capacity, or special trash containers.
If you’re like me, you’ll go online.  Once you select the service you want, you will need to create account or log into your LADWP account. That’s where it got tricky for me.
If you pay your bill online or have auto debit, you probably have an account. Hopefully, you have written down your user id and password.
I decided to try creating a new account because I couldn’t remember my DWP account.
But I got the following error message that forced me back to LADWP. Eventually I figured it out. I could have used a different email address and started all over, but the advantage to using the LADWP account is that your service requests are tied to your utility account and you only have one log in, if you can remember it or have your computer remember it.
Maybe just call 3-1-1. I only needed to replace the lids to my trash containers. Â Once I got through, I did have to wait a bit on hold, the operator was very helpful and the lids were delivered a few days later.
