There was a line outside the Kicks store at 141 N Larchmont that began around 2 pm on Friday and grew until the doors opened at 10am on Saturday. Yes, that gaggle of young men sleeping on the sidewalk last night (most brought chairs) were there to … buy shoes.

For those of us not in the know, it was the re-release of a limited number of Jordan 4 ‘s – “The Shot.”  In a brilliant campaign by the Jordan Brand, a subsidiary of Nike, several times a year they re-release a very limited number of popular styles  from the past and true fans can’t wait to slip them on.
According to Guilia White, a Kicks salesperson at the store Saturday, “The Shot” was named for Michael Jordan’s game-winning shot in the final 3 seconds of the 1989 game that pushed the Bulls past the Cavaliers in the first round of playoffs. But you knew that, right?
Kicks on Larchmont had about 30 pairs of “The Shot” and were sold out by 10:30 am. Most customers didn’t try them on, just bought their size and headed out the door. Speaking with buyers camped out in line, the Buzz learned that most are going to wear the prized shoes themselves, although one young man informed us “or you could sell them on eBay for up to a grand if you get the right buyer.”
