Local Virtual Learning

Dream about being on Larchmont while you learn virtually from local businesses.

The best part of virtual learning is that you can take classes anywhere in the world. However, if you want to support your local businesses during COVID-19 virus closures, you can now learn online from local providers.  Several local businesses have told us they are now set up to conduct online classes.

Rhodes School of Music

David Rhodes, founder and owner of Rhodes school of Music told us the school is now offering one-on-one music lessons online.

“Using the familiar Zoom platform, students can simply click a link and instantly join a lesson with a teacher who specializes in the instrument of the student’s choice. Lessons are one-on-one and students will be able to take them at the same time every week, with the same teacher.

In addition,  to help families and the community get through this tough time, the school is also offering additional free group classes on Zoom for kids and adults. The school will also be hosting free faculty concerts on Zoom, to bring live music into people’s homes.

Rhodes School of Music has been offering music lessons to the Larchmont Community and beyond since 2012.  For more information please visit the website at rhodesschoolofmusic.com, send an email to [email protected] or give them a call at 323-522-4888. The full time desk staff is ready to assist or help you get signed up for lessons!”

Align Physical Therapy

Dr. Paula Sauer of Align Physical Therapy has closed her Larchmont office but is offering free therapeutic content via her YouTube channel, and will be offering online classes via Zoom in the coming days.

In addition,  she is offering virtual therapy via FaceTime or Zoom for anyone who is in need of some individual services or assessments.  Email her at [email protected] to schedule a session.

Sauer strongly recommends everyone try to keep moving in some capacity at home. “Try our videos or other videos that are being offered online,” posted Sauer on social media.  “The abundance of online material is growing daily. Go for a walk if you can and get some fresh air, even if that means opening your window and letting the sunlight embrace your face.”

Larchmont Meditate and Yoga & dr Pilates

Larchmont Meditate & Yoga and dr Pilates have partnered to provide a free 8pm Meditation for better sleep and anxiety.

“The community gets together via Live Zoom, nightly. Friends and neighbors can see each other and talk after, and share thoughts. Meditation is half hour. No experience required. Just access to a phone, iPad or lap top, with Zoom. The Zoom ID is: 760-144-169. The same code can be used every night, and shared with others. No limit on participants,” Hilary Malloy told the Buzz. As she posted to the community on social media:

“The meditation is led by Larchmont Meditate & Yoga Founder Hilary Malloy, who will “lead a guided visualization to music and breath work.”  See the links above to register, and for a full list of  virtual live classes. Classes are $10 per household. Family Yoga is daily at 4pm (for Kid’s and Parents). Gentle Yoga Movement to Breathwork for Adults is at 7pm. (All levels, beginners, elderly, or sick welcome.
