Long known as a school that feeds the minds of young women, Marlborough School is now moving into the next phase of development to better feed their bodies – through construction of new athletic and physical fitness facilities on campus. The “Arden Project” will expand the footprint of the school by about 25%, adding approximately an additional acre to the campus that straddles the block between Rossmore Ave and Arden Blvd in Windsor Square.
The project will demolish a number of single family homes Marlborough owns adjacent to the campus, as planned since 1999 when the school received a conditional use permit for the expansion. The demolition of the homes has been re-reviewed by City Planning and the Office of Historic Resources, with the determination that the they are grandfathered in for demolition even though the  Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ) was put in place in the area in 2005.
The Arden Project has been designed by LPA Inc. and is expected to cost $24 million. Funded through Marlborough’s “Leadership in Learning”, the campaign has raised $76 million since 2007 for a multi-phased development of the campus. As part of the campaign, the new Munger Hall was completed in 2009 and now houses the library, classrooms and the visual arts programs. The next phase? An updated pool and aquatic center, expanded field, and plenty of green space and gardens.
Work on the Arden Project is subtly underway now, with official groundbreaking to take place in June 2015. Expected completion is planned for the opening of the 2016-2017 academic year.

Do those skirts go below the fingertips? Marlborough can’t even get their digitized students to dress proper!
Yep, keeping tearing down the neighborhood Marlborough. You know… there’s plenty of space around the Forum in Inglewood for your 1 acre soccer field and 25 yard pool. Im sure that they would love your investment there.
