In another sign of our digital times, the newspaper boxes that used to line Larchmont Blvd., but which have not actually held newspapers, shopping guides or other publications for many years, were removed recently, clearing the sidewalks and making more space for people to walk and hang out.
Thanks are due to Rebecca Hutchinson, co-executive Director of the Larchmont Village Business Improvement District (BID), who got all 15 of the old boxes on Larchmont removed. Hutchinson excitedly messaged the Buzz to say “these are the ugly metal news dispensers that were up and down the street Bev to 1st. They had graffiti on them and no newspapers! [CD4 field deputy] Rob Fisher was a huge help. Making Larchmont more beautiful.”
Perhaps just one more sign, dare we say, that online news is the wave of the future…
