Openings and Re-openings on Larchmont

Uncool Burgers is officially opening this week in the former Bardonna space — same owner, new concept.

Opening

Uncool Burgers is planning to officially open this week. The fast casual burger spot is the latest eatery on the street, at 139 N. Larchmont, and the seventh for entrepreneur Josh Pourgol, who also owns Tacos Tu Madre at 203 N. Larchmont Blvd.

We stopped by on Sunday as guests were eating for free — helping Pourgol and his team work out the kinks in the menu and figure out how to seat guests with appropriate social distancing. Opening a new restaurant during a pandemic isn’t for the faint-hearted, but Pourgol told us he’s been planning to make the change from Bardonna, a coffee spot, to Uncool Burgers for quite some time.

“We closed in mid-March and have been working on the space,” said Pourgol. He thinks the timing is right for mid-market, fast casual restaurants that offer good, fun food at a reasonable price. “Our most expensive burger is just $15.00.”

The eclectic menu offers classic beef, chicken, and non-meat options. There’s lots of seating inside the storefront, a change from the Bardonna layout, as well as a newly enclosed dining area in the back.

If you stop by during the soft opening this week you can enjoy a free lunch, which is pretty cool. By the way, we had to ask about the name — it’s Pourgol’s way of saying everyone is welcome, just be yourself and that’s cool.

Re-Openings

We are happy to report that more stores are opening and welcoming shoppers inside. Some are only offering shopping by appointment; others have limited hours and some are still offering curbside pick up.

Shopaholic Sample Sales owner Tina Hsiung sent us this photo of the storefront and its snazzy new solar lights.

“We’re really glad to be back! Our store hours are Monday through Sunday from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., for now,” said Hsiung.  “We’re requesting that clients please wear masks, and we’re accommodating two clients in at a time. We’re wiping down everything constantly and we have lots of hand sanitizer!

Shopaholic Sample Sales is now open M-Sun from 11 a.m.- 6 p.m. for now.

Diptyque store manager Isabel Mayfield told us she’s also open Wednesday through Sunday,  from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Village Heights is also back with regular hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Larchmont Barber Shop is also open! Guests need to call ahead for appointments and wait outside until called into the shop. And it’s cash only.
