The Wilshire Country Club is closed today, following the stabbing death of a food server by a kitchen employee at the club last night.
According to a report by KTLA-TV, the stabbing occurred around 10:45 p.m., when “the employees, both in their 20s, got into some type of verbal altercation that escalated and resulted in the stabbing.”  The victim was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In a message to Club members late last night, WCC President Dirk Gaudet announced the the “tragic” and “earth shattering” incident, noting that the deceased was, “a tall gentle young man that has been a great asset to our Wilshire team.” Gaudet also said the victim was “a fine young man with such a bright future,” and promised that the WCC “Board of Directors and I plan to do everything possible to provide support to his family in any way that we can,” as well as provide counseling to club staff.
Also according to Gaudet’s letter,  the man who stabbed the victim is still at large, and homicide detectives are interviewing the club staff to gain more insight into the incident.
The entire Wilshire Country Club will be closed today; some activities or services may resume this weekend.
Gaudent ended his announcement by saying, “Our prayers and condolences go out to [the victim’s]Â family and of course our staff, many of whom witnessed this heinous act.”
