As empty store fronts on Larchmont Blvd. slowly open with new businesses, the street is starting to sport a more fun, inclusive look. The latest new business scheduled to open on the street is Thirteen Lune, a beauty products company showcasing brands for people of all colors, taking the former LF space at 120 N. Larchmont Blvd. A company spokesperson told the Buzz that the company’s flagship store is scheduled to open in early 2023.
The founder of Thirteen Lune is Nyakio Grieco, a veteran of the beauty industry who also happens to live in Hancock Park. She is thrilled to have her first brick and mortar store in the neighborhood. She recently posted a photo of her family in front of the new store on Instagram with the caption “This is my grown up Christmas list ….🌲♥️💚”
A veteran of the beauty industry, Thirteen Lune is Grieco’s latest venture. She founded the company in 2020 during the pandemic as an e-commerce site offering consumers a platform to find beauty products created by BIPOC business owners. Like her other companies, Nyakio Beauty and Relevant: Your Skin Seen, Thirteen Lune has been lauded by the beauty industry. While the Larchmont store will the company’s flagship store, it recently announced a partnership with JCPenney to build the chain’s own beauty experience, called JCPenney Beauty. This past Fall, JCPenney announced it would expand JCPenney Beauty to 300 stores by early 2023 and 600 stores by the spring of 2023.
The Larchmont location will no doubt be special because it’s the company’s flagship and because the founder lives in the neighborhood. Larchmont Boulevard has always been a destination for beauty products since the Larchmont Beauty Supply opened nearly thirty years ago. The opening of Thirteen Lune continues that tradition.
