Two people were injured in a traffic accident at the intersection of Rossmore Avenue and Third Street around 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. According to LAPD West Traffic Bureau, a vehicle made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, causing the accident.
Traffic was diverted away from the intersection of Rossmore and Third Street and paramedics attended to the driver and passenger of the motorcycle. All three individuals were adults, not students at nearby Marlborough School. The motorcycle passenger and driver were taken to a local hospital, according to Officer Engle, who interviewed both victims. Fortunately, their injuries were not severe. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
In February, LADOT implemented new lane striping on Rossmore Avenue, designed to reduce speed and increase safety on the street for residents and drivers. Perhaps it’s time to look into speed reduction and safety improvements for Third Street.
I travel Third Street regularly and I’ve never felt like speeding was an issue. Third Street has a lot of traffic, especially in the morning and afternoon. Two accidents that I know i
of, including today’s, involved motorcycles, which are hard to see. In the areas around the three schools, there is a lot of traffic and it can take up to five signal changes to get through the intersection of Third and Highland going west in the morning. Would be interested in hearing what safety measures one would suggest.
