Representatives from the Department of Recreation and Parks joined Councilman Tom LaBonge, LA’s Department of Engineering and community members on Friday morning to officially reopen Robert Burns Park on the corner of Van Ness Ave and Beverly Dr after a major refurbishment financed by Prop K funds.
A deteriorated pergola-Âlike structure was replaced with a new shade structure with a solid roof that covers the picnic area. To improve the walking paths, approximately 3,700 square feet of the park’s old concrete walkways and driveways were demolished and replaced. New picnic benches were also added to the park.
Margy Hudson, member of the Windsor Square Local Volunteer Neighborhood Oversight Committee, and long-time resident of the community whose family owned a grocery store on Larchmont Blvd many years ago, was saluted at the ceremony.

Great news, although James Ellroy would not recognize it.
