The owners of the building at 217 North Larchmont have confirmed that they have signed LA casual dining original Hamburger Hamlet to a multi-year lease. The gourmet burger joint is currently renovating the space and will open for business on the Boulevard sometime this Spring.
Hamburger Hamlet opened in 1950 on Sunset Boulevard and was a home-away-from-home to many of Hollywood’s most famous celebrities. The company recently closed that original location at Sunset and Doheny due to escalating rents and increasing parking fees, among other reasons. This move to a smaller, neighborhood oriented venue could signal a new approach to how they do business. All I know is that the pictures of the burger and salad on their website are making my mouth water…and rekindling fond memories of their cobb salad and corn bread.
The Larchmont Buzz has reached out to the owners of Hamburger Hamlet and will have more news as it becomes available.

Wow!
Didn’t the Hamlet have other locations are town too? Perhaps they’ll be the perfect fit for that space.
Yes – they had another location up on Hollywood Boulevard across from the Chinese theater. There might have been others too… They ARE different from anything else on the Boulevard. Can’t wait to see how it’s set up…
Thank goodness. A legal hamburger on Larchmont Boulevard. Imagine that.
Wonderful! I remember their chopped salad so well! And I ate it in West LA on Sepulveda – I think, it was so long ago. I also think they have or had a location in Pasadena on Lake Ave.
This will be a destination for me!
this is great news

Looking at an April opening…
My favorite Hamburger Hamlet was the one by Wilshire/Vermont. Always enjoyed going there on a Friday night. So glad to see them trying another business model. Yes, I’d like to know when they’ll open so I can pay a visit. Just hoping they still have the Emperor Henry IV burger on the menu along with the lobster bisque!
