Is your medicine cabinet stuffed with old prescription medications? The Drug Enforcement Administration has scheduled a Prescription Drug Take-Back Day for this Saturday, April 27 , 10am – 2 pm at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center on Sunset Blvd.
The point of National Take Back Day is to remove potentially dangerous prescription drugs-particularly controlled substances like narcotics- from consumers’ homes. In the five previous Take-Back events, more than 2 million pounds (1,018 tons) of prescription medications were collected and properly disposed of all across the country.
The local event is co-sponsored by Kaiser, Children’s Hospital, Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital, enforcement agencies and Southern California Society of Health-System Pharmacists who will be onsite to answer medication related questions.
Gather up those drugs gathering dust in your (or your parents’) medicine cabinets, night stands, refrigerators, and shoe boxes and head up to Sunset Blvd. Get rid of it right.
