Eater LA is reporting that the space that was formerly home to Baskin Robbins on Larchmont Boulevard is going to be a coffee shop from the creators of G&B Coffee. The name of the shop is under wraps until it is trademarked.
G&B Coffee is a new coffee project backed by Kyle Glanville and Charles Babinski. Until early 2012, both Glanville and Babinski worked at Intelligentsia Coffee’s West Coast operation. Glanville was VP of Strategy and Babinski was Lead Barista Trainer. They left Intelligentsia to start G&B Coffee – a high-concept coffee bar that’s focused on superior roasters and very specific brewing techniques. Plus, they have a policy of using no disposables.
In October 2012, they temporarily set up shop at SQIRL’s location on Virgil, just north of Melrose, while they looked for their first location. They have partnered with Abel Eljam, owner of the Baskin Robbins, and are currently renovating the Larchmont Boulevard space.
Can Larchmont Boulevard handle another coffee shop?

About Mary
Mary has lived in the Hancock Park area for over 20 years - including homes in Larchmont Village and Windsor Square. Mary has lived in some great places in her life - but none compare to the convenience and majesty of our neighborhood. For Mary, the neighborhood has been a wonderful home to her large, extended family...at one time she had family members living on seven different Hancock Park area blocks! Larchmont Buzz is a labor of love - built to celebrate the neighborhood and to elevate the conversation in the area.
MORE coffee on Larchmont. How original. How exciting.
I recall back in the day when the ‘mont was over run with banks, then it was realty offices. Now, its coffee shops er stops. On the other hand, its better to have our store fronts in biz, than outta…
Noah’s , baby cakes, the cupcake place, Starbucks, Sam’s Bagels, Peets, Larchmont Larder, Pain Quotidian, the juice place (surely you can get a cup of coffee in there?) Coffee Bean, the gelato place, the candy and gelato place, yikes. Even though I’m a coffe drinker and I go to Peets all the time, I find the news of yet another coffee n’ carbs place to be a bit depressing. Is there no other idea that would work for Larchmont Boulevard? No Cookbook, no noodle or soup place, nothing other than caffeine and sugar?
If it is compares with intelengscita Coffee & Tea in PASADENA…it will do very well on LARCHMONT.
What an excellent idea to put a good coffee bar on larchmont, it will do very well! i’ll be there everyday for my coffee for sure.
EXCELLENT I’LL BE THERE
Yesss! I can’t wait! I’m sure it will be better than the other coffee shops around, all the other ones have always been rude and not costumer-oriented, it’s cheap and doesn’t even taste good
Excited!!!
i am often on Larchmont. Now i’ll be able to have a good espresso. Cannot Wait!!!
I can not wait! Those guys are masters at coffee and we are in for a treat. Family business is the best!
