As you may have heard, the city of Los Angeles is already busy sprucing up for its turn in the spotlight when the Summer Olympics come to town in 2028. (For example, Metro is making a big push to finish a number of major transit projects by then.) But spiffing up the city is a big job, and the city is now seeking public input for beautification projects that can be executed over the next few years.
This Thursday, May 31, the city will hold a Keep Los Angeles Beautiful Summit to collect ideas for beautifying our local environs, and to bring people who have ideas for beautification projects together with city agencies and resources that can help bring the ideas to fruition.
According to the website for the event:
“The Keep Los Angeles Beautiful Beautification Summit aims to provide opportunities to other like-minded local, regional and national organizations to come together and address current industry issues and to encourage overall networking. The event will include a welcoming from Board of Public Works Commissioner Aura Garcia and several speakers presenting on community beautification topics, current projects, and funding opportunities.
At the Beautification Summit, you will have the chance to network with other chapters of Keep America Beautiful and learn more about City services and its current and future sustainability programs and initiatives.”
Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Los Angeles City Hall, 200 N. Spring St., and a light breakfast will be served. There will also be giveaways and raffles. The event is free and open to everyone, though RSVPs are requested at the link above.
