Landis Stationery at 138 N Larchmont Bl. is opening its doors this week to showcase several artists as they work on their craft inside the store.
On Wednesday May 1st from1-3 pm the artist  Elkpen (featured earlier on the Buzz in March) will be dressing the store’s shop window between 1-3pm with her Birds of Hancock Park series. Mostly produced on recycled cardboard, the whimsically-painted birds also teach us with just enough facts and figures to learn a bit about the local species and their habitat in Hancock Park.
The elusive Elkpen will be working live in the window setting up her exhibit from 1-3 pm, and if time allows she will host an interactive art project for children out on the sidewalk from 3-4:30 pm. Bring your budding artist to paint some birds and learn more about the flocks in our trees.

Nick Hanzlik, a man quick with the scissors, will be creating his delicate R. Nichols hand-cut paper collages in the store on Thursday, May 2nd, from 1-5 pm. Patrons will have the opportunity to see this master cutter working on new original pieces as he takes scissors to paper while chatting with patrons who want to see his artistic process underway. The Thursday creations may eventually get digitally rendered and used in the playful and humorous collection of greeting cards, luggage tags, candles and prints offered by R. Nichols.
Landis Stationery and Nick will also offer three new candles for sale on Thursday: Surf, Bloom and Read.
Nick was introduced to fine paper cutting in 6th grade and loves to chat with patrons about his work, which  sells at Landis Stationery, as well as Barney’s, Nieman Marcus and and Gump’s.    SPONSORED POST
