Like many Windsor Square teenagers, sisters Daphne and Marielle Meyer will be hanging out in Santa Monica on Saturday. However, rather than hitting the typical Santa Monica young-adult haunts they will be celebrating their first appearance in a film that is featured at a film festival. The twins are part of the ensemble behind the Santa Monica Independent Film Festival entry “Mirror’.
SaMo Indie 2014 takes place at the Santa Monica Playhouse over the next three days and celebrates independent film making. ‘Mirror’ is an 11-minute film, featured Saturday evening in the 8pm Narrative Short Block. According to event organizers, ‘Mirror’ is a “strong, tight, interesting and beautiful short.”
Daphne and Marielle are currently attending two different Southern California colleges…so Saturday night also represents a reunion for the best friends/sisters.
For other locals who are in the early stages of pursuing careers in film, the Santa Monica Independent Film Festival represents a great opportunity to help a film get recognition and springboard it to other platforms.
