
Phil Shuman, reporter and anchor for FOX Channel 11 will moderate a candidate’s forum next Sunday, February 8 where 13 candidates hoping to replace termed out City Councilman Tom LaBonge are expected to attend.
Emmy winner Phil Shuman has been a news reporter and anchor here in Southern California for almost 30 years. Since 2002 Shuman has worked for KTTV FOX 11, in the investigative unit, early in the mornings for Good Day LA, in the afternoons for Studio 11 LA, late into the night for the Fox 11 News at 10, and on the weekends.
Shuman hosts programs on LA Cityview Channel 35 such as “Your Council District Close-Up”, and “LA in Focus”. This is the Los Angeles City owned cable television station. He’s also a monthly columnist for the Sherman Oaks – Studio City News.
Official voting in the CD 4 race starts in two weeks when ballots are mailed so the timing of the the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council’s forum is perfect for voters to learn more about the candidates. Voters along the Wilshire corridor will have a chance to hear the candidates address questions submitted by local neighborhood groups as well as questions submitted by students at John Burroughs Middle School.
The forum is Sunday, February 8 from 11 -1 p.m. at John Burroughs Middle School in the auditorium. Admission is free and all are welcome. The forum is jointly sponsored by the Greater Wilshire Neighborhood Council (GWNC) and the Mid City West Community Council (MCWNC), whose boundaries are just west of the GWNC.
