Tortoiseland, our local tortoise rescue and sanctuary, is hosting a fundraising yard sale and silent auction on Saturday May 20th and Sunday, May 21st. The event promises to be a fun and exciting way for people to meet the tortoises, volunteer, and help raise $10,000 for this worthy nonprofit organization founded by Windsor Village resident Kevin Proulx, also known as “The Tortoise Guy” on Youtube, TikTok and Instagram.
“The yard sale will feature a wide range of cool stuff, including furniture, clothing, books, and more, all donated by members of the community,” Proulx told the Buzz. “The silent auction will feature unique items donated by local businesses and individuals. From artwork and jewelry to gift certificates for professional services, there will be something for everyone to bid on.”

ALL proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards supporting Tortoiseland’s mission as a 501c3 Tortoise Rescue, rehabilitation, rehoming and Educational Organization.
“We’re excited to host this event and invite the community to come out and meet the tortoises,” Proulx said. “It’s a great opportunity for people to learn more about these amazing creatures and support our sanctuary.
Visitors to Tortoiseland will have the chance to interact with the tortoises and learn more about their behavior, habitat, and conservation. Proulx will be on hand to answer any questions and provide information about the work that goes into rehabilitating and caring for these unique animals.

“We believe that by providing a fun and engaging experience, we can inspire people to take action to protect tortoises and their habitats,” Proulx said.
The fundraising yard sale and silent auction will take place on May 20th & 21st from 9am to 4pm at Tortoiseland, located at 911 S. Lucerne Blvd, Los Angeles 90019.
