CD4 Councilmember Tom LaBonge will kick off his summer cycling series with a ride tonight that begins outside City Hall. The ride will be led by the Councilmember with escorts from the LAPD.
The Councilmember began Tour LaBonge in 2008 as a way to celebrate the LA scenery. The rides have become quite popular and usually draw crowds of 20 or more bikers. This particular ride will begin downtown at 6pm at the Sister City signs at First and Main. Riders should anticipate a ride that will be about 10 miles in length.
Participants must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by an adult. All riders must wear helmets.
According to Larchmont Buzz reader and avid cyclist Keith Johnson:
Summer rides with Councilman Tom LaBonge are back, these rides are really fun & easy – for all levels of riders. The first one starts at City Hall and usually wends its way north to Olvera Street & then into Boyle Heights & over the 6th St Bridge (as the sun sets over the city) and then back to City Hall. Rides are fully escorted.
Rides will take place each of the next five Wednesdays at different locations throughout CD4. See schedule below.
