Residents of the 100 Block of Van Ness in Windsor Square have been growing increasingly frustrated with dangerous traffic conditions on their streets and have organized a meeting with representatives of the City’s Department of Transportation Friday, tomorrow morning at 10:30 am at the CD 4 Council office at 6501 Fountain Avenue. The meeting was set up by South Van Ness neighbor, Matt Jacobs.
Resident Scott Goldstein shared with the Buzz the following announcement to neighbors inviting them to attend the meeting.
“Our South Van Ness neighbor, Matt Jacobs, has been doing excellent and important work, interfacing with the LADOT, CD4, and the Windsor Square Board, endeavoring to find remedies for the persistently growing and extremely dangerous traffic on our street. One resident has already been hit by a car and another has had their car smashed into during rush hour. There are many other incidents, in which residents have had close calls with traffic rushing through or completely ignoring all traffic controls and speed limits. Needless to say, we have a very serious and life-threatening problem that needs to be dealt with immediately.
The Windsor Square Homeowners Association has been dealing with the following traffic-related issues:
- Preferential parking.
- Cut-through traffic.
- The impact of Waze and the like.
- The Norton and 4th roundabout.
- Speeding.
Traffic has become a serious, neighborhood-wide problem, though both Van Ness and Norton (And Wilton) do get the heaviest impact and are the likeliest streets to experience a real tragedy.
This meeting with LADOT and CD4 is critical. I urge all Windsor Square homeowners to attend so that we have the strongest possible showing of community unity and determination. This meeting is our best opportunity to achieve real and meaning solutions to this. Everyone should attend, if available.
Many thanks to Matt for his good work!
