Le Marché – The Market Coming to Larchmont Early Next Year

Le Marché – food market, restaurant and bar coming to Larchmont at the corner of El Centro and Melrose early next year.

Finally, a gourmet market is coming to Larchmont. Well, actually, coming back to Larchmont. Our historic photos albums are filled with small markets that used to be on Larchmont. But Le Marché will be the first food market to open on Larchmont in almost 20 years.

Restaurant entrepreneurs Mathew Cape and Spoon Singh, of nearby The Larchmont, gave us a hard hat sneak peak last week, and explained that Le Marché (French for “The Market”) will offer a range of food-foraging options fitting our lifestyle.

Located on the ground level of The LC apartment building at the corner of  El Centro and Melrose Avenue, Le Marché will offer grab-and-go food as well as all the ingredients you need to make a gourmet meal fit for your foodie friends and family.

Or, if you prefer, explained Cape, Le Marché will do the cooking and you can sit down and enjoy Cape’s 132-seat restaurant and bar, with an open kitchen offering French/California seasonal cuisine made with locally grown, sustainable ingredients.  The bar will offer a full line of alcohol, no doubt riffing off the popular trend in specialty drinks, and there will be a wine shop for take out sales of beer and wine only.

Cape plans Le Marché to be open from 7am to midnight with outdoor tables along Melrose tucked inside the glass partition between the building and sidewalk. Cape wants everything to be open and bright, allowing diners to be inside or out. And, in case you are wondering, there are 37 parking spaces in the building and Cape is also considering valet parking if needed.

Partners Cape and Singh are hoping to make Le Marché a new neighborhood favorite with something for everyone. According to Cape, they’ve been working on the Le Marché concept since opening The Larchmont across the street three years ago.

Le Marché will fill out the retail spaces on the ground floor of The LC building, which currently houses Gallery L7 custom lighting and design and Au Courant clothing.

  1. This is great. Was hoping for a while that we’d finally get Larchmont Bungalow shut down and someone could do a market there/takeout there, but I’ll take this. (Although still hoping the Bungalow will finally go away.)
