Richard Bloom
CA State Assembly District 50 Representative Richard Bloom

The race for CA State Assembly District 50 has ended and Richard Bloom will be sworn in as the new representative for the District at 12p today in Sacramento.

District 50 includes a large portion of our neighborhood…everything west of Gower (north of Beverly Blvd.); west of Plymouth (between Beverly and Wilshire); west of Crenshaw (between Wilshire and Country Club); Country Club west to Olympic; Olympic to Rimpau; Rimpau to 12th Street and then back out west.

Bloom, until 11:59a today, is the mayor of Santa Monica. He will resign that post just before getting sworn in as Representative for Assembly District 50. He was declared the winner in the closely fought battle for the seat with Betsy Butler. Bloom won by a 1,700 vote margin over Assemblywoman Butler.
