LACMA Transformation Moving Forward


A few days ago, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art launched a new “Building LACMA” website to showcase and track the extensive re-design of its campus, featuring a major new building by architect Peter Zumthor.

The site provides an overview of the project, plans, timeline and FAQ for the project…as well as a new image gallery that provides many newly-released views of both the interior and exterior the proposed Zumthor building.

The launch of the new website coincided with the Los Angeles County’s August 4 release of a Notice of Preparation of a Draft Environmental Impact Report for the project…and the announcement that a Public Scoping Meeting will be held on August 24.   The Scoping Meeting will help the county collect “agency and other early comments regarding the environmental issues to be addressed in the EIR.” It will be held at 6 p.m. on August 24, in LACMA’s Broad Contemporary building.

Public comments on the potential scope of the EIR can be made at the meeting, or can be submitted until September 6 to:
