Late Saturday afternoon, about a dozen police vehicles surrounded the El Royale Apartments on Rossmore, searching for a man who had been seen breaking into a home on nearby Arden Blvd. The suspect ran into the basement of the El Royale to avoid being caught. According to a resident, the building’s basement gates were open to accommodate movers at the building.

After determining the suspect was inside, LAPD surrounded the building and brought in a team of K-9 dogs to search the basement area for the man. He was found by the dogs. Resident Dia Kim told the Buzz that the suspect was bitten by the dogs and taken away in an ambulance. Kim was on Larchmont at the time and was unable to go inside. She told the Buzz that LAPD did an excellent job searching and securing the building though she added it was terrifying not knowing what was going on during the incident.
