Skloff Siblings Showcase at Temple Israel of Hollywood this Friday

Shelly Fox and Michael Skloff in a musical conversation Friday at Temple Israel of Hollywood.

Musical siblings Shelly Fox and Michael Skloff will be talking and singing about their long careers as professional musicians this Friday following Shabbat service at Temple Israel of Hollywood. The Skloff siblings have had long successful careers working in these two worlds of music, secular and sacred.

Shelly Fox is TIOH’s Cantorial Soloist.  She came to the temple after a professional career as a Soprano. Before Shelly came to Temple Israel, her big brother Michael, a television and film composer, was an active member of the congregation, creating and leading the Temple’s in-house band the Chai Tones. Michael is most known as the writer of the theme song “I’ll Be There For You” for the hit NBC comedy series FRIENDS, for which he received an Emmy Award nomination. Michael was also a long-time resident of Hancock Park.

“Everyone in the community is invited to join us for dinner followed by the conversation where we will hear from Michael and Shelly about their impressive careers and of course, hear some music,” Susan Core, who will serve as moderator, told the Buzz. Core is a part of organizing committee who started the TIOH Speaks series as a way to introduce temple members to the broader community in a moderated conversation that explores their backgrounds and careers. Phil and Lily Rosenthal were featured guests at a previous program.

“We have so many great people in our community, this is a great way to get to know them and explore how Judaism influenced their lives,” added Core.

Everyone is welcome but reservations for dinner are required. Tickets are $25/person; Children 5–12 $15/person. Click here to make reservations. Click the video below to learn more.
