The LAPD awarded the Police Star to a group of Officers from LAPD Olympic Division at a ceremony on July 24th. This medal was given for the Officers’ actions taken during an active shooter incident in Koreatown on November of 2012. Although one victim died of his injuries, the LAPD team of Officers were successful in rescuing ten other victims who were hiding from the suspect in the office.
The suspect was taken into custody and is awaiting trial for murder.
Among the Officers that received this award is Senior Lead Officer Joseph Pelayo, LAPD Olympic Division SLO for Basic Car Area 20A1, the section of our neighborhood served by LAPD’s Olympic Division.
