This Sunday, Look What She Did!, the nonprofit organization that celebrates the stories of extraordinary women, will honor Melinda White and Lilly Ledbetter at annual benefit brunch honoring at 11:00 a.m. on March 26, 2023, at the historic women’s nonprofit Ebell of Los Angeles.

Look What She Did was founded in 2017 with the mission to inspire women and girls to greatness by bringing to light stories of remarkable women who changed the world. The organization creates short films and events featuring female storytellers celebrating women who inspire them. The collection of over 150 films is freely offered to be viewed, discussed, and enjoyed at www.lookwhatshedid.com.

The 2023 Look What SHE Did! Women’s History Month Benefit will honor Lilly Ledbetter, equal pay activist and namesake of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and give an award to Melinda White, CEO of Transit Wireless. The event will also feature guest addresses by LA County Supervisor Holly Mitchell and producer, Jyoti Sarda, as well as the world premiere of Look What SHE Did!’s short film on Lilly Ledbetter, narrated by Rachel Feldman, director of the upcoming feature film “Lilly”, starring Patricia Clarkson.

Lilly Ledbetter is the 2023 Women’s History Honoree; past honorees include Faye Wattleton and Dolores Huerta. Lilly Ledbetter is a fair pay activist who rose to prominence after she filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission upon learning she was earning significantly less than her male colleagues, a fight she took all the way to the Supreme Court. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act was the first bill President Barack Obama signed when he entered office. She is being recognized by the Look What SHE Did! Board for her tremendous, pioneering contributions to pay equity and women’s empowerment.

Melinda White, CEO of Transit Wireless and founding board chair of Look What She Did, is the first recipient of the Trailblazer Award. Melinda White is an experienced CEO and has experience in both start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. She was recently named to the 2022 Transportation Power 100, recognized as a top business executive in New York. She has been acknowledged for her talent sponsorship in gender and ethnic diverse, LGBTQ+, and other under-represented communities, drawing from her own experience as a Korean-American.

“Look What She Did has grown from an idea my friend and I came up with while serving jury duty, to a collection of over 150 films about historic female activists, scientists, artists, politicians and more,” stated founder, Julie Hebert, who is also a writer, producer and director. “Today, we are honoring two women who are the definition of “Look What SHE Did!”. I am so looking forward to celebrating what Lilly Ledbetter and Melinda White have achieved, opening doors for us all and inspiring women & girls to trailblaze as they reach for their dreams.”

The hybrid in-person/virtual event will feature premieres of new Look What She Did films, a conversation with the two honorees, and a brunch reception. Lilly Ledbetter will be joining virtually from her home in Alabama, and Melinda White will be in-person at the Ebell.

“We stand on the shoulders of these inspiring women, and I’m grateful to be honoring them,” stated Sylvia Hathaway Chavez, Look What SHE Did! Executive Director. “One thing I admire about both Lilly Ledbetter and Melinda White is that whatever success they achieved, they reached back to pull up the next generation of women behind them. To me, that’s what makes a great leader and a woman deserving of her place in history.”

Sponsorships and tickets for the event are available on the Look What She Did! events page. Proceeds from the event will support Look What She Did!’s ongoing efforts to film and amplify the stories of remarkable women, including their upcoming “PRIDE Series”, featuring stories of women and non-binary trailblazers from the LGBTQ+ community.
