A new nest is opening in the community sure to hatch a few fine birds:  the Hatchery Press,  a member-based collaborative writing space located on Clinton St. just off the boulevard in North Larchmont. Billed as a quiet, supportive, distraction-free place for writers and creators to work, the Hatchery invites community members to its “soft opening” this Sunday, March 1, from 12 – 5 pm.
The Hatchery may offer an excellent option to the many writers fighting for tables at local coffee shops or tired of working from home. “Co-working” close to others clicking away on their keyboards can offer the inspiration and dedication writers need to get their projects on the page.
Tania Bolnick, who grew up in the Larchmont area, founded the Hatchery and has plans for movie nights, art shows and workshops for children in addition to offering focused work space. Memberships to the Hatchery, with free coffee and tea all day, run in the $125-$250/month range, depending on hours of use.
The open house on Sunday will be a nice way to get a feel for the place and its creative community with the added benefit of snacks provided by Salt and Straw, Sam’s Bagels, Wine and Cheese, Crumbs, Go Get Em Tiger, and Z Pizza – all our local favorites. The Hatchery will also feature an exhibition titled “Veeptopus” by Jonathan Crow – a series of portraits of America’s Vice Presidents resplendently draped with octopus – that is sure to delight and provoke.
